Downtown Development

The City of Prescott has an active downtown development effort. The program seeks to make the downtown more attractive and viable for business development. Several major projects have been undertaken in recent years to enliven the downtown area and encourage more private investment. One such project was the development of two pocket parks, which provide a venue for concerts, pep rallies and other events hosted downtown.

A second project was the restoration of the Depot Museum. The Downtown Development Program secured a Transportation Enhancement Grant to fund the restoration of this historic structure. The depot, originally built in 1911, was restored and now houses the Nevada County Depot Museum. The project was a $200,000 effort.

Another project, completed in 2005, is the downtown sidewalk replace project. A grant was secured to replace/repair all of the sidewalks in the downtown area. The project has improved the sidewalks throughout the downtown district and improved the appearance and safety of downtown Prescott. In addition, the Downtown Development Program has worked with the Chamber's Beautification Committee to replace the lighting in the downtown area with pedestrian friendly lights that match the historic character of the district.

We believe in downtown Prescott and we welcome you to come be a part of the revitalization of this area. Please contact the Partnership at (870) 887-6208 and see how you, too, can be a part of Prescott's downtown development efforts!
